Global Business 101

The old saying abounds “it’s an extremely small world.” It certainly is in terms of the ability to access information across the globe and the connection you have with business leaders and other key decision makers in every part of the world. This is particularly evident in global business. Global business is an expression used to describe any company or other entity that conducts business outside of its home country.

All businesses must ensure that they are ready to face the challenges of global trade. This includes knowing the nuances and complexities of international business, and being able to work with partners and colleagues in other countries from their own.

The undergraduate Journal of Global Business and Trade (JGBT) includes research papers reports, articles, and commentary that pertain to the field of global business. It is also the official journal of CUIBE, the Consortium for Undergraduate International Business Education.

It’s important to know what cultural differences can impact the performance of your business abroad, whether you’re a business owner who is considering entering international markets, or want to make sure your employees are prepared. This means understanding the customs of holidays, beliefs, and social customs of the various cultures you might encounter in your international business endeavors. It’s an excellent way to improve your “export IQ.” It could also be helpful to know what you can expect from business acquaintances in other countries, including different levels of comfort with personal space or how to greet someone in a foreign language.
